Chesapeake Bay Retriever (Chess a peek)

Chesapeake Bay Retrievers a.k.a. Chessies are known to be outstanding hunting dogs. They are known for their prowess in the rough icy waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Chessies have a double coat consisting of a short, harsh, wavy outer coat and a dense, fine, woolly undercoat to protect them from harsh weather and environments.

I have always wanted to own a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, ever since my Dad (who I adored) said that he owned one. My father was an avid duck and raccoon hunter. He always said that the Chessie he owned, Wing Commander, was one of the smartest dogs he ever had. However, he would not tree a raccoon.

Chesapeakes are known for their intelligence and once they learn something (good or bad) they know it forever!
